The course receives funding from The Scottish Arts Council and other trusts and foundations, which keeps the fee down for participants. The 2012 course fee is £560. This includes:

  • all tuition
  • up to 14 nights' self-catering accommodation in Kirkwall within walking distance of the course venues (course duration is 11 nights).

Students also receive:

  • free admission to some St Magnus Festival performances
  • an invitation to the opening Festival Reception

A small number of bursaries towards the course fees may be available to British applicants.  These will be awarded to talented composers who might otherwise have difficulty in meeting the course fees.  If you would like to be considered for a bursary, please tell us why in a covering letter. Bursary recipients are required to write a short report on their experience after the course.
