Phillip Cooke studied at Durham and Manchester Universities and is currently finishing his PhD at Cardiff University , studying with Anthony Powers. His works have been played by many of the country's leading ensembles and he is currently artistic director of the London Contemporary Music Group (LCMG), a professional ensemble he founded in 2005.

Michele Gillman is a composer of acoustic and computer music. She earned her doctorate in music composition from Northwestern University where she studied with Amnon Wolman and Michael Pisaro. She is currently residing in St. Paul , MN with her partner and daughter where she teaches music theory and composition.

Chris Hutchings has been composing since the age of 7, writing mostly for choirs. Notable successes include jointly winning the Temple Church Composition Prize in 2001, the Edinburgh Competitions Festival in 2002, a commission for Pilrig Organfest, and performances throughout the UK and also in Canada by choirs both amateur and professional. He is currently studying for a PhD in composition at Glasgow University under Professor Graham Hair, and working closely with the Chapel Choir there.

Emma Jacqueline Nenadic, born 1987, is currently studying at The University of York where she will graduate with a BA in Music in June 2008. She studies composition with Thomas Simaku and piano with Elizabeth Haddon and hopes to do a postgraduate degree in composition at music college. Besides St Magnus Festival she participated in Dartington International Summer School last year where she studied Film Music Composition with Miguel Mera.

Etelka Nyilasi hails from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and is currently a Master of Music Composition student at the Birmingham Conservatoire, studying under Joe Cutler, the Head of Composition.  She received an Honours Bachelor of Music degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario in June, 2006, where she studied composition with well-known Canadian composers Linda C. Smith and Glenn Buhr, violin with Jeremy Bell and Chamber Music with the members of the Penderecki String Quartet.

James Ross studied traditional music at the RSAMD and the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. He has composed music for Celtic Connections, Caithness Orchestra and Distil Showcase. James is artist in residence at the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music. James' debut album for solo piano was released by Greentrax in 2006.

Anjula Semmens (b.1987) began composing under the guidance of Sir David Lumsden in 2002 and now studies with Dr David Knotts at the Junior Royal Academy of Music. Her work has been performed in Jerwood Hall at LSO St Lukes, and in the Duke's Hall at the Royal Academy of Music. She also plays clarinet and piano and will take up a place on the BMus Music Course at Oxford University in October 2007.

Paul Tierney (b. 1984) is currently studying for a PhD in composition at the University of Aberdeen , where he graduated with a First Class BMus(Hons) degree in 2006. Paul has had many performances of works in and around Aberdeen in the last year, including pieces for organ and string quartet. He is also active as a performer and conductor and is a keen promoter of new music in North East Scotland.
