Victor Agudelo   La Madre de Agua (Mother Water) *British Première*
  Symphony No. 5 in E-flat, Op. 82

For their second concert, this Norwegian orchestra brings a much loved classic from their homeland with some of the incidental music written by Grieg for Ibsen’s play alongside one of the towering symphonies from the northern landscapes by the Finnish composer Sibelius. Sibelius’s 5th Symphony is a powerfully dramatic work, starkly melodic with an expansive architecture reflecting the open Nordic landscapes.  Sunnier climes are suggested by the exquisitely colourful piano concerto by Maurice Ravel and the work by the young Colombian composer, Victor Agudelo, which brings to life the sea siren from the mythology of his homeland.
