The Malawi Music Fund was set up as a result of Festival Director Glenys Hughes' year-long sabbatical in Malawi in 2005. So far, over £8,000 has been raised. The funds are being used to run week-long music camps for orphans and other disadvantaged Malawian children, many of whom live with HIV, who struggle to manage day by day.
