Composers' and Conductors' Courses - Applications now open.

Posted on

The 40th ST MAGNUS INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL will take place in June 2016. The Festival is one of the UK's most exciting events bringing extraordinary performances to the remote and inspiring landscape of the Orkney Islands around midsummer every year.

Once again the Festival will be complemented by courses for Conductors and Composers and applications are now sought from potential participants.

The courses offer unique and unrivalled opportunities for the composers and conductors to work with professional ensembles to meet fellow musicians and to experience high quality performance in an intense and unforgettable experience. There are eight places for each course and these are highly sought after. This year's participants will include Sally Beamish, Martyn Brabbins, Alasdair Nicolson, Charles Peebles, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Hebrides Ensemble.

For more details and to find out how to apply, please visit our Courses page.

There is no other event, certainly in Scotland, that blurs the boundaries between community arts and the professional world as relentlessly as Orkney's St Magnus Festival.
