A new course for student or young professional singers in the inspiring landscape of Orkney at midsummer. Commencing in the last days of the St Magnus International Festival, this is an intensive four-day opportunity to work with renowned performers and teachers and to explore all aspects of singing.
Orkney Singers' Course (27-30 June 2012) is directed by two internationally renowned singers Linda Ormiston and Alison Wells and provides a range of opportunities from one-to-one lessons, to coaching sessions to group activities and masterclasses.
Other artists from the Festival will also join for single sessions.
Sessions will include: work on repertoire from both lieder and opera, contemporary vocal repertoire and techniques, dramatic presentation and characterization and coaching and vocal technique. These sessions will range from individual work to group activities and will culminate in a group recital in the beautiful, medieval St Magnus Cathedral as one of the final events of the 2012 St Magnus International Festival.
Other visiting artists from the Festival will also join for single sessions.
Accompanists for the course will be Angela Livingstone, renowned accompanist, coach and Head of Opera at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and David Knotts, staff at the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music.
