Pupils of Dounby School have worked with Dance Ihayami, SCO violinist Robert McFall, musician Thankamma Kumar and film-maker Shrikrishnan Sreekumar. Together they present the result of their creative collaboration. The show also features a celebration of the dance of India and a piece set to live music by Orkney traditional musicians Jennifer and Hazel Wrigley.

Event 15: Shivaarpanam ('offerings to Shiva')

Intricate and beautiful costumes, rhythmic footwork, expressive mudras (gesture language) and facial expressions combine to make a joyous and colourful Indian dance performance. The show features original music from both contemporary and classical traditions, plus Indian classical dance to Celtic music, including live music by Jennifer and Hazel Wrigley.
