Dumbarton Oaks is Stravinsky's response to the concerto which opened the SCO's first programme; Pulcinella is the composer's affectionate, irreverent tribute to Italian music of the 18 th century. Between these popular 20th century classics we hear Judith Weir's orchestral showpiece and Paul Lewis performs Beethoven's masterly concerto. A splendid climax to the SCO's Festival residency.
‘The wit and drama of this music was superbly realised by Lewis in playing of structural insight and intelligence … a soloist of real stature.' The Guardian
