Bob McIntosh relates the remarkable story of the Stevenson family of engineers who dominated Scottish lighthouse building for 150 years. His talk touches on the lighthouses of Orkney and the Flannan Isles, and outlines more recent innovations including aids to navigation in the 21st century.

The talk is followed by a screening of Lights Out, a five-minute animated film created by a team of children from Sanday School who worked with local artist Dominique Cameron and local film maker Tony Hull. Lights Out won the animation category of the First Light National Film Awards, 2008.
