Whisky Galore (1949)
When 50,000 cases of whisky are stranded on a ship which runs aground, the inhabitants of a Scottish island cannot resist the temptation. Unfortunately, an English home guard captain stands in their way. This classic Ealing comedy, based on Compton Mackenzie's novel and inspired by a true incident, was filmed on Barra in the Outer Hebrides.

Bell Rock

The treacherous Bell Rock reef lies eleven miles off the east coast of Scotland . This acclaimed BBC drama-documentary relates Robert Stevenson's plan to build a lighthouse on the rock. Although widely ridiculed, Stevenson was successful and the oldest off-shore lighthouse in the world still shines out across the North Sea .

Tango Maestro - The Life and Music of Astor Piazzolla

This moving documentary celebrates the Argentinian composer who challenged the traditional world of the tango and radically transformed its music. Mike Dibbs' film is richly illustrated with filmed performances and interviews with Piazzolla himself and performers including the Kronos Quartet, pianist Joanna McGregor and accordionist James Crabb.

Tango
(1998)
Tango is a Golden Globe- and Oscar-nominated film by Spanish director Carlos Saura. Set in Buenos Aires , this tale of a film director who sets out to make the ultimate tango film contains riveting dance sequences and a superb musical score which takes tango music as its inspiration. In Spanish with English subtitles.
