Year of Young People 2018

2018 has been designated the Year of Young People in Scotland.

Year of Young People 2018 is an opportunity for generations to come together and celebrate our nation’s young people.

It is a platform for our young people (8 to 26). It will give them a stronger voice on issues which affect their lives, showcase their ideas and talents, and ultimately, aim to challenge status quo and create a more positive perception of them in society.

Young people have been at the heart of St Magnus International Festival since its earliest days and we are delighted to give a particularly large number of Orkney's young people a platform to create and present their own work in this special year.

Young people with complex needs/autism will create their own music in Sounds of Surroundings, Kirkwall Grammar School supergroup will lead off our outdoor stgae at Skaill House and secondary pupils from both island secondary schools will reflect on contemporary life in Orkney.
