The Orkney Conductors’ Course takes place each year over twelve days built around St Magnus International Festival. Emerging professionals from all over the world gather to work with two pianos and some of the Festival artists. This year, we are opening the doors of the sessions where our students work with a professional orchestra. This is your chance to watch many young conductors in action, to see the inner workings of an orchestral rehearsal, and to hear a large variety of repertoire. You might even be watching the star conductors of the future in their earliest experiences.

Repertoire to include:

Haydn   Symphony No. 103
Schumann   Symphony No. 2
Rachmaninov   The Rock
Shostakovich   Symphony No.9
Wagner   Overture to The Flying Dutchman
Rimsky Korsakov   Scheherezade
