Specially created in 2014 as a commemorative event for the centenary of the Great War, the acclaimed soprano Isobel Buchanan and her husband, actor Jonathan Hyde perform this powerful evening of songs and poetry on the theme of war.

BUTTERWORTH Bredon Hill, Is my team ploughing?
WEILL Lost in the stars

The specially created sequence of words and music leads us through reflections and reports on war through the eyes of composers such as Ivor Gurney, Kurt Weill, George Butterworth and Francis Poulenc alongside the poetry and prose of Sassoon, Kipling, Owen and others. A moving and poignant examination of war from the works of those involved and those that observed. One of the highlights of last year's Bath International Music Festival, the performance is highly charged and immensely moving.
