It fell on a Summer's day

Buses depart 14.45 Concert starts at 15.30

Mhairi Lawson and Elizabeth Kenny bring their celebrated artistry to the magically austere Presbyterian kirk overlooking the Bay of Skaill.  Here they survey two sides of the border and beyond with music from the Elizabethan, Tudor and Stuart courts and some very well known songs including “It fell upon a summer’s day” and “It was a lover and his lass”. The songs are interspersed with intimate works for solo lute from the same period and we have one work by the living composer, Alec Roth, which brings us right up to date in a setting of John Donne. The programme completes with songs collected by Burns in the Scots Musical Museum.
