8 EUNSLEY PARK & MAKSIM ŠTŠURA

, Start Time: 14:30, End Time: 16:30 Stromness Town Hall Church Road, Stromness KW16 3BA

A virtuosic snapshot of late 19th and early 20th Century violin repertoire culminating in Cesar Franck’s mighty, romantic masterpiece.   The programme is filled with music which is ‘under the influence’; be it Stravinsky’s homage to Pergolesi in this collection of music from his ballet Pulcinella, Kreisler’s homage to the waltz-style of his birthplace Vienna and Ravel’s enigmatic assimilation of jazz and blues.  Judith Weir’s exquisite Duo is full of playfulness and brightly coloured virtuosity.

The British/Korean violinist Eunsley Park and Estonian pianist Maksim Štšura are both award winners in their own right and bring their youthful, virtuosity to classics of the chamber music repertoire.
