Tabea Debus with her recorder

TABEA DEBUS AND ALON SARIEL

A specially created concert mixes poetry and prose against an eclectic musical backdrop. Taking the theme of the land, sea and the coastline of Scotland and mixing the poetry of Orkney poets George Mackay Brown, Edwin Muir and Robert Rendall with other writers, this event is an immersive, flowing mix of literature with music. Award-winning performer Tabea Debus brings her unique talent and an array of recorders to survey music old and new alongside the delicate accompaniments of Alon Sariel’s mandolin and theorbo. They are joined by the rich vocal tones of Crawford Logan the well-known Scottish actor.

Winner of the Concert Artists Guild, New York, Tabea Debus has been hailed as a ‘charismatic virtuoso’ bringing the recorder to new audiences with her brilliant performances and investigations of music old and new. Alon Sariel has a flourishing international career and is interested in both early and new music as player and
conductor. He leads the Concerto Foscari and has just recorded Beethoven’s mandolin repertoire.
