The original instrument of the outdoors, from hunting rallying calls to battlefield signals, the horn dates back to the earliest of music.    The Rookh Horn Quartet is made up of some of Scotland's finest players drawn from the various national orchestras and brings together an exciting virtuosic ensemble.  They present a cornucopia of eclectic repertoire including Maxwell Davies' fanfare for one of the most famous British horn players.   Lynda Nicholson has created a new work inspired by Orkney and another recent work, Headbanger, brings things to a close with its powerful rhythmic and melodic motives over a strong and steady pulse.
