Schubert Die Winterreise Op. 89 (Arr. Wim ten Have)
Schubert’s iconic song cycle is of course normally performed with piano. Here, in this atmospheric arrangement by Dutch composer Wim ten Have, we hear new colours and atmosphere which go beyond the percussive sound of the piano. Schubert’s song cycle is a setting of poems by Wilhelm Müller and is a vivid portrait of the human heart pained by love lost and on a metaphorical journey towards winter. The Ragazze Quartet’s version with Maarten Koningsberger is a powerful, arresting and deeply involving account of this well known work.
